This beautiful tree only grows along the Pacific Coast area from Northern California up into parts of Canada. It is rare and very unique. It has beautiful grain and color. It ranges from a light rosy cream to deep red. When Madrone dies, it actually will turn black on the exterior. Madrone is edible, the bark and berries. Berries can be made into tea, dried, or even roasted. The wood is noce for wood turners making bowls and pens. Larger slabs once treated make gorgeous tables and mantles.
